Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy focuses on movement as a central component of health and well-being. Through treatment it aims to maintain, improve and restore movement and function after illness, injury or disease to ensure you get back to your best as soon as possible.
Physiotherapists are university-trained professionals with expertise in human movement, biomechanics and anatomy. They assess the mechanical cause of your condition by assessing the joints, muscles, ligaments and nerves, then through manual therapy, exercise and education work with you to develop a treatment plan to help get you back to better health.
Manual Therapy involves physical hands-on techniques such as joint, muscle and soft tissue mobilisations and manipulations, aimed at improving movement and reducing pain.
Dry needling is a skilled intervention and Western Medicine’s approach to traditional acupuncture. Based on scientific research, dry needing uses thin needles to target trigger points in the muscles and connective tissue, with the aim of initiating healing, reducing pain and improving function. Dry needling is often used in conjunction with other physiotherapy treatments, however please discuss this with your health care professionals to ensure it is the right treatment option for you and your health.
Including muscle stimulation, TENS, Interferential and Ultrasound, Electrotherapy aims to reduce inflammation and stiffness while stimulating muscle activity.
Whether you are an elite athlete or amateur weekend warrior, you are likely to encounter an injury at some point in your training. Our physiotherapists work with you to restore and improve your function using vast knowledge of strength and conditioning, load management, rehabilitation and injury prevention. Exercise is one of the most effective interventions in treating a huge range of injuries and conditions and aims to gradually progress you to maximise improvements and get you back in action as soon as possible. We can provide individualised exercise programs as well as offering a wide range of exercise classes targeted at all levels of injury. We are just as passionate about treating sports as we are about participating in them, so we understand the importance of getting you back to your best as soon as possible.
BodyCare Physiotherapy can assist with workplace pre-employment screening as well as rehabilitation of workplace injuries. We offer rehabilitation from acute treatment, to later stage return-to-work exercise programs and job specific training programs. Our team of physiotherapists are up-to-date with the current best practice and biopsychosocial models of care, offering care for early intervention and WorkCover WA pathways.
Hydrotherapy
BodyCare Physiotherapy has the only onsite hydrotherapy pool in Albany, providing physiotherapy-based exercise in warm 34-degree water. Hydrotherapy benefits rehabilitation by allowing increased buoyancy and greater pain-free movement than on land, so you can exercise earlier and easier without over-stressing your joints.
We offer specific hydrotherapy sessions ranging from post-operative classes to high-level fitness classes. Hydrotherapy is great for post-operative rehab, arthritis, pregnancy related issues, chronic or persistent pain, and general issues with joints, muscles, ligaments and bones that may restrict you from exercising on land. It helps to provide an even compressive force around a joint to minimise swelling and improve mobility, ultimately leading to faster recovery.
A physiotherapy assessment is required before attending our hydrotherapy classes.
