Exercise Physiology in Albany

Exercise Physiology is a healthcare service that focuses on using exercise as a tool to improve your health and well-being. Accredited Exercise Physiologists (AEPs) are experts in designing tailored exercise programs for individuals with chronic or complex medical conditions, injuries, and disabilities. Whether you’re recovering from a workplace injury, managing a chronic condition, or working toward health goals, AEPs work with you to create a safe and effective exercise plan that supports your individual needs.

Exercise Physiology can be provided in a variety of settings, including the pool, gym, or even from the comfort of your home. We work with a range of clients, including those under veterans affairs, NDIS, work-related injury rehab, GP care plans, motor vehicle accidents, and more, ensuring that every program is evidence-based and customised for optimal results.

How does Exercise Physiology Differ from Physiotherapy

While both physiotherapists and exercise physiologists work to improve your physical health, there are key differences. Physiotherapists focused on the management of acute, sub-acute and chronic pain management through the use of manual therapy, education and exercise rehabilitation. Physiotherapists are focused on diagnosing and treating injuries, managing pain and improving mobility, function and injury rehabilitation.

In contrast, Exercise Physiology is about using exercise to manage chronic long-term conditions and improve your overall physical function. Exercise Physiologists are experts in exercise prescription, working with people who need help managing chronic health conditions, improving fitness, and preventing further injury.

If you’re dealing with a long-term condition, such as arthritis, heart disease, diabetes, or you need help improving your general fitness or rehabilitation post-injury, an exercise physiologist is the expert you need. They will design an exercise program tailored to your specific health needs, ensuring that you’re exercising safely and effectively.
